I am the Teacher Counsellor at Glendale Science and Technology School. I support teachers and students in regards to mental health literacy. I am currently the Chair of our Alberta Teachers' Association Diversity, Equity and Human Rights Committee.
I have been teaching since 1994 and came to Glendale this year My first teaching experiences were in First Nations Communities in Northern Alberta. I have a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alberta and a Masters in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I have counselling experience in middle school, high school and in a non profit agency. am a teacher first and there is a ton of teaching done in a counselling office Some of my experiences include student leadership, mindfulness, brain research, anxiety, depression, LGBTQ issues, social issues (social aggression, girl stuff, boys and learning), trauma, Dialectal behavior therapy, cognitive behavior therapy and school culture. I am one member of a very skilled support team of learning assistance teacher, community liaison worker, literacy teacher, mental health worker and administration.
